About us

about us familyOwner Scott Johnson has been an electrician since 1989 and has in that time wired many homes to high specification, he has been installing C-Bus lighting control systems for well over a decade and has earned himself C-Bus approved installer status as well as supplying and installing many home theatre and other Audio Visual installs as an accredited Control 4 and Axium installer.

His eye for detail can been seen in the finished products and his clientele are happy with the works undertaken by the company and the work ethics of his staff.

A Quantum Story.

The Beginning: I had started out as an Electrician at the age of 16 and working through the many trenches along the way was soon to be given my own van in my second year as a trainee. Suddenly I was thrown in front of customers having to take control and offer solutions to their requirements.              The Family dec 2012

This appealed to me in the way that I could offer suggestions and then complete the work required for the best possible outcome which is still to this day a fulfilling gratitude I feel having help another.

At the age of 20 I was now a registered "sparky" and could now sign off my own work … (and the pay was better!!).

The Takeover: At the age of 24 my employer was looking to retire so my options were buy the business or he would sell it to someone else.

I wasn't quite prepared for this at the time but as I have known our entire client base over the years personally this was an easy choice for me.

Branding: I branded the company "Quantum Electrical ltd"in 1997 and suddenly found I was working nights with the amount of work on, I soon developed a team and more vehicles to complete all the tasks. As I have never been one to say no.

A Rebrand: in 2007 I rebranded to "Quantum Electrical & Automation Ltd" after finding more and more of our works involved lighting and sound control along with security, intercom systems, access control and gate automation type work. Along with working alongside many other electricians to complete Automation type projects.

Purchased "Deatil Electrical Ltd" in May 2013.

One Stop Shop: As we can offer all cable services and being a one stop shop where... Electrical and Automation systems, security gates and access, and A/V (Audio Visual) requirements are more and more the norm our clients can deal with just one company for all there requirements rather than many contractors onsite with issues of, (who does what) and that old saying… (I thought he was doing that!!) Eliminated completely.

I have always found I tend to offer many ideas with solutions to customers issues/ problems or requirements, but I don't push my customers just for a sale, I would rather sell one less so to speak and have a happy customer than to push for that extra sale on something that they ...  "JUST DON'T NEED".

Current:This has lead me to the position I am at today of specifying for many clients, from blank floor plans, systems that not only work by using the best possible products, but by having the knowhow to only include the required components, (ever seen a lighting plan from a lighting shop…)my point entirely.

By doing this time and time again, we have received many leads and referrals from our client friends and also electrical wholesalers being preferred installers of Electrical, Automation and A/V systems Auckland wide.

Quantum Electrical & Automation Ltd are members of Ecanz/ Master Electricians, (electrical contractors association of New Zealand).
